Ho scoperto solo di recente che il file rscmpt.exe residente in memoria e colpevole del sovraccarico di lavoro della cpu è dovuto ai driver del gf4 che per vedere 64mb di ram usano quel file con conseguenti gravi problemi prestazionali della macchina chiaramente disabilitandolo, la gf4 diventa a 32mb e diminuiscono anche le prestazioni in 3dmark... non so più cosa fare pensavo di risolvere i problemi passando dalla voodoo5 alla gf4 ma mi sa tanto che mi sbagliavo... se qualcuno può darmi una mano gliene sarei molto grato grazie e alla prossima.

Il format c già lo avevo fatto pensando di aver preso un virus o qualcosa di simile ma, il problema persiste e sono certo sia dovuto alla gf4... se fate un giro su internet vi accorgete del problema che hanno parecchie persone, c'è addirrittura chi avanza l'ipotesi che le schede in realtà montino 32mb e usino questo software per emularne 64!!!!! Frode?!!!! Boh chi lo sa!!!

Se questo notizia è vera, ho paura che nVidia abbia finito di vendere...
Tra il flop della FX e questa, ragazzi, dove andranno a finire? Riprenderanno a proporre il Riva TNT 2?

Una cosa simile mi è successa con un radeo 7000!
Il programma della casa specificava che la scheda aveva 64mb di memoria ddr,
mentrela maggior parte dei sistemi diagnostici ne rilevavano solo 32:
Alla fine infatti si è scoperto, dopo aver contattato un laboratorio, che effettivamente ce n'erano 32!
Cosi mi hanno cambiato la scheda, visto che la fattura riportava Ati Radeon 7000 64ddr!
Però non mi spiego come il software di ati ne indicasse 64!

Cerchiamo di capirne di + riguardo a questo problema,dato che sarebbe veramente assurdo se schede con una dotazione di 64 mb diventassero a 32 mb...

"Well, well, well.  What have NVidia either done, or allowed to happen ?!  There is absolutely nothing positive we can say about this task.  It goes like this :  you purchase an NVidia chipset card and install the drivers – you have Windows 2000.  Let's say the card is a 64Mb graphics card.  If you install the NVidia drivers from the NVidia site, you find that your card gets recognised as only a 32Mb card.  If you then decide to install the drivers from the CD that came with the card, you find that your card gets recognised successfully but there is a new task running, RSCMPT, which gobbles up CPU resources, up to 99% sometimes.  So, to summarise :  without RSCMPT your card gets recognised at boot-up as the card you bought, a 64Mb card, but when you are in Windows it gets recognised as only half that, 32Mb.  On the other hand, with RSCMPT Windows recognises your card properly but your PC slows down to a crawl.

Recommendation :
Something is not right, whether with Windows 2000, or the NVidia chipset under Windows 2000, or the implementation of the NVidia chipset by 3rd party graphics cards manufacturers.  One thing for sure, something is definitely not right with RSCMPT.  At the time of writing, 29-Dec-2002, a search for RSCMPT on the NVidia site yields nothing, and that is not right as, with so many users experiencing difficulties, they must know about the problem (even if it has nothing to do with them, ie. it is the fault of 3rd party manufacturers, they should be issuing a statement about it).  In our view, if you have just bought the card and you experience this problem, return it and get a different one – be practical, effectively.  Note that this problem has also been observed on Windows 98 PCs."

Benone in sintesi con win 9x non si sono mai verificati questi problemi, mentre con win 2k/xp non si riesce a risolvere ;il consiglio finale è di farsi sostituire la scheda se essa è stata appena acquistata e presenta queste incompatibilità....

Sembra cmq che sia un problema delle "Terze parti" che assemblano le scheda,dato che nvidia non ha messo in evidenza questa incompatibilità......bha mi sempre una cosa molto strana!!!

Associa al processo rscmpt.exe una priorità più bassa di quella di default...se non sorgono problemi di stabilità dovresti recuperare un bel pò di risorse...

Tanto per chiarezza, che sistema hai (in particolare cpu, scheda video e OS)?
