Hi, I have a SLI setup with two 3dfx voodoo 2 12mb on a Pentium III-S 1.4ghz. On Windows 98 SE with your driver (fastvoodoo 4.6) no problem at all! But with Windows 2000 (fastvoodoo 4.0 gold), sometime the PC freeze before de 3dfx logo and somtime after 1 hour of gameplay the framerate downgrade... restart the game and is OK.

Sorry for my english, im from Québec

Hi cedrick86,

welcome here.

This behaviour could be a overheat issue, because you are using a SLI system, and it's hot of course. Try to reduce the case's temperature and let me know.

Thank you.

Bye bye

thank for the respond!

But my cards have a 80mm case fan at bottom, flow directly between cards. After 1 hour of gameplay the chips on the cards are not hot at all.

I solved a similar issue with a downclock of memory speed. Tries to set the memory speed from 90 to 85MHz.

each Voodoo has the same problem without SLI setup??

:que:

same problem with only one voodoo 2, but with Windows 98 (dual-boot on the PC) no problem at all with one or two cards... Windows 2000/XP driver problem?

Did you try both cards, one card at time? If yes, could you kindly tell us brand and model of the cards? Are they identical?

I try two card one at one, and no problem at all with Windows 2000

the first is a A-Trend, ATG2455P (12mb)

the second is
CMC Orbit3D PCI3DFXV2A1-12M (12mb)

i repeat on Windows 98 this cards run with no problem in SLi mode...

FastVoodoo2 4.0 GE (XP/2000/NT4.0) simply doesn't allow mismatched V2 under NT environment.

FastVoodoo2 4.6 for W98 allows mismatched V2 to run in SLI setup, instead; this is the reason why you haven't this issue under W98, although the cards are from different brands:

Citazione di: FastVoodoo2 4.6 driver readmeIt does possible running games on Voodoo2 SLI configurations done by mismatched cards, works fine with Microsoft DirectX v. 7.x, 8.x and 9.x and with MesaFX

If you are planning to play games under NT environments you must find another A-Trend or CMC Voodoo2 12MB to match with one of the two cards you already own and then run them in SLI.

A-Trend and CMC seems hard to find, so probably you could have more chances to get a new matched pair of V2 cards.

Good Luck.

It's a good news. I cannot post any sort of commercial link, but right now you can find another new STB Voodoo2 1000 12MB on eBay from USA (CA). It's cheap after all.

Let we know;)
