If game still will not work, try to use GL driver (wickedGL) ,
please, give me a link to wicked gl .
( Driver OpenGL prodotto da 3dfx per le sue schede grafiche.

    * ver. 1.46
    * ver.1.47
    * ver.1.48
    * ver.1.49 )
is nesesary something to download like in Quake for example - MesaFx - ( 1) Replace again glide3x.dll (from ...MesaFX-6.2.0.1/Voodoo2 folder) in ...Windows/System32 folder.

2) Replace glide2x.dll again (unzip it from ...glide2x_radeon.zip that you downloaded) in ...Windows/System32 folder.

3) Replace opengl32.dll again (from ...MesaFX-6.2.0.1 main root) in Quake2 main folder.

4) Now reboot your system and try to lunch Quake2 again. )? )

I am not sure to understand...Now you are talking about Quake2 or Quake3 ARENA (demo)?

IF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT QUAKE2:
MesaFX still not works? Have you tried to select Default OpenGL in Quake2 menu setup?

What is the problem? What happens when you try to run the game? Try to explain it...

Any way you can find latest wickedGL driver at 3dfxzone.it: Metabyte WickedGL 3.02

With miniGL driver like this, I think you must choose 3DFX OpenGL this time, in game options..

IF ARE TALKING ABOUT QUAKE3 ARENA:
If MesaFX not works with MesaFX, verify Default OpenGL option is selected in Quake3 SETUP/SYSTEM menu. I am playing Q3A with Voodoo2 SLI, FastVoodoo2 4.0 XP GE + MesaFX 6.2.0.1, so you would have to be able doing the same! ;)

Quake2 not work in 3dfx gl mode,
Automatic run in : softver,
Maybe is problem integrated grafic on board ?

Anyway thanks for your help,

Just instal  Metabyte WickedGL 3.02 or must replace some file or glide in file Quake 2 ?

For : Quake3 ARENA , must replace some file or glide in file Quake 3 Arena ?

goriath

NO, VGA-on-board does not match the problem.

If Quake 2 starts in Sof_Ren. mode automatically, you would have to be able selecting 3D hardware acceleration ("Default OpenGL" or "3DFX OpenGL" options) in the game menu. If you are using MesaFX, i think you will have best result selecting "Default OpenGL" otherwise, if you will use WickedGL mini-driver probably will be better to select "3DFX OpenGL"...Any way you would to be able choosing both modes independently from openGL drivers (wickedGL or MesaFX) you are using...

WickedGL works very similar to MesaFX. After downloading and installing 3.02 version, execute EXE file; this will open the installer, utility that allow you to search your game from list of supported games, in order to install opengl32.dll file properly. (ATTENTION: do not confuse Mesa dll with this one! Same name, similar job they do, but different things they are!). On the left you can select the game of your interest; select Quake 2. On the right you can reach main folder where execute game file is; search quake2.exe. Now click on "Install WickedGL regular version" button. Utility will scan folder searching for quake2.exe file; when it will be done, confirm installation. And that is all you have doing...

For Quake3 is the same

Let me know

Thanks, game Quake 2 still work on softver :
When game play, I choose 3dfx or open Gl, game work, but when I look in video menu is displayed :softver,

Never mind,

Yes, Wicked Gl is easy to install,

I confirm normal resolution, it is O.K. ?

Game Quake 3 arena work well.

Once again thanks for your help.

By the way,
Another question about Ram:

Motherboard have just two slot for Sdram dimm,
Now I have 2 x 128 mb 133 mhz = 256 mb ( Windows XP ).

Is better to have :
1 x 256 mb but 100 mhz
and 1 x 128 mb 133 mhz

Which system are better and quicker ?

( Don't forget, grafic is on board )

more ram or more hertz ?
Now 256 mb ram and 133 mhz
or
386 mb rama and 100 mhz
( some people tell me , when you have two diferent ram frequency, system work for lower frequency ? )

About Quake2:
I understand now. Quake2 starts in Soft.Ren. mode; when you try to select "Default OpenGL" or "3DFX OpenGL" modes, your choice seems working, but when picture appears on the screen, game still run in Soft.Ren., right?

Very strange....You could try to uninstall and reinstall driver...Mhm I dunno :D....or you could try different driver...

(!): About resolution using Voodoo2 or 2 Voodoo2 SLI: One Voodoo2 can support resolution up to 800x600 max; Two Voodoo2 SLI can support up to 1024x768 max.
When you select different rendering mode, you put resolution on 1024x768 max, right?

About Quake3 ARENA:
In Quake3 you can play at 1024x768 in 3D Hardware acceleration (Default or Voodoo options)?

My reply is: Installing the old, good and more faster Win98SE you could get better results on your system (If this system is not main machine and if you only use it for retrogaming)

Any way, if you want WinXP, IMHO, it would be best install how much memory (MB) you can...And yes, system with different frequencies memory, will run both to the lowest frequency

About Quake2  : Right

When you select different rendering mode, you put resolution on 1024x768 max, right? Yes.

About Quake3 ARENA: i must see

About ram now have : 1 x 128 mb and 1 x 256 mb both 133 mhz.
Is important to be biger ram 256 in slot 1 or slot 2 or is not important ?
Grafic on board change in bios to 128 mb, before 64 mb : is this better  ?
About xp and win 98 se : you are right, but for children is better to learn newer system.

Not important, in general. But it could depends on ram. I had experiences about ram modules that was not working first exchanging them in ram's slot.

This is better for your VGA-on-board, but not for your system with WinXP installed. My suggestion is reserving how much memory you can to OS (If OS is WinXP)
