About Quake3 ARENA:
In Quake3 you can play at 1024x768 :
Quake 3 change to this resolution, but when I saw in video is still 600 x 480 ?

goriath

Mhm...you have problems with driver, because whichever settings you change (rendering mode in Q2 or resolution in Q3A) games do not remember your choice...

- During Q3A, go in SETUP/SYSTEM select GRAPHICS on the left and click on DRIVER INFO; let me know what you see about "VENDOR" string
- Check if SLI is active; on desktop, click right mouse button, select "Property", click on "Settings" tab, click on "Advanced" button, then select "V2-1000" tab. This is the Voodoo2 control panel; click on "Advanced Properties" button and finally verify that "Disable Scanline Interleaving (SLI)" option is unchecked (if checked will disable SLI configuration; only one card will works)

driver: windows/ help/3dfxv2ps.hlp
and others about 10 voodoo2,
in option » v2-10000¨is not advanced,
but it is on 3dfxvoodoo2,

ARRGHH!!!!

1) If you got 3dfx videocard, you are able to set " Voodoo" mode in Quake3 SYSTEM SETUP. If you say this not happens (dark screen) you have problems. Two possibilities:

  • a) Are you sure that primary VGA and Voodoo2 are properly linked by pass-through cable?  You have link primary VGA to the first Voodoo2 card by pass-through cable (nearest to the AGP slot, if this one is present) and plug monitor cable to OUT connector on the first Voodoo2; if you have two Voodoo2 SLI, the second Voodoo2 is "plug-free", this means that no external connection are needed for second 3dfx card
  • b) You still have problems with driver...

2) When two Voodoo2 works together to reach SLI performances, you can play games setting resolution up to 1024x768. If you cannot reach 1024x768 resolution, two possibilities there are:

  • a) While you play games, only one Voodoo2 is actived, because SLI is DISABLED in the control "V2-1000" panel
  • b) SLI is ENABLED in the control "V2-1000" panel, but SLI does not work because incompatibility between two Voodoo's (infact you are using mismatched pair....One Voodoo2 is form Orchid while the other one is from Creative; they could work togeter or not, it depends if Creative and Orchid made their Voodoo cards, following 3dfx reference board specifications. If this happens, Voodoo2 made from different producers can work in SLI. Otherwise, if one producer follows "3dfx reference board specifications", while the other one follows its reference board specifications, they could not work together in SLI).

I remember that both Creative and Orchid followed "3dfx reference board specifications", so you shouldn't have problems...However many card's revision went out when 3dfx was still alive, so you could have two Voodoo2 that are incompatible between them. About this I want ask: Have both cards double-side ram or one of them have ram chips only on one side of the board?

Any way if you still experiment problems while using SLI configuration, I suggest going to Koolsomky driver; this driver set can run Voodoo2 from different producers

3) Please, during Quake3, in SYSTEM SETUP screen click on "DRIVER INFO" at bottom page and let me know what you can read about "VENDOR" string; this could confirm if Voodoo2's are working or not...

Are you sure that primary VGA and Voodoo2 are properly linked by pass-through cable ?
Yes. like Foto in link: http://www.shifter.sk/helppage/default_fix.htm#SLI
i will reinstal Golden and trx to Koolsomky driver,
must i instal just koolomky driver or
kolomsky and Voodoo2 Tweaker ?

( try Koolsmoky's XP Voodoo2 driver, that should fix it for good. If you need to modify some settings like gamma or refresh rate under winXP, use the Voodoo2 Tweaker, the default 3dfx control panel doesn't work (and show information) correctly under XP.)

About this I want ask: Have both cards double-side ram or one of them have ram chips only on one side of the board?
Cards are identical and have ram only in one side of the board.
First i try to Kolosomky , then ...
( Metabyte WickedGL 3.02
Download MesaFX 6.2.0.1
try to unzip proper glide2x file to your c:\windows\system32 folder: LINK ) look back in your post

OK about Voodoo2/primaryVGA connections...

Ok, try to reinstall FV2 if you want. If this does not fix the problem, try Koolsmoky driver, the last chance..

You can install Koolsmoky only, or if you need more control on driver settings, you can install also Voodoo2 Tweaker (the default 3dfx control panel doesn't work properly under XP)

I repeat some questions (probably my english is not understandable, sorry:D)

1) In order to know something more on your 3dfx hardware configuration, I need to know if Voodoo2 from Creative and Voodoo2 from Orchid are physically identical. I would like know if both Voodoo2's have RAM module installed on both sides of the board or not.

2) in SYSTEM SETUP screen (Quake3) click on "DRIVER INFO" at bottom page and let me know what you can read about "VENDOR" string; this could confirm if Voodoo2's are working or not...:D

1 – card are identical( about ram) only diferent is on in pci slot
RAM module installed on both sides of the board
2 - vendor
Microsoft corp. 1.1
Direct 3 D
Pixsel format
Color ( 32 bits ) z ( 16 bits ) stenci ( 0 bits )
Extension
GL_EX_COMPILED_VERTEX_ARRAY

Game Quake 3 work 1024 -768 pixel  , if change display to 16 bit, now 32 bit
What will happend  if change the Bios:
Integrated peripherals
Init Display First ( This item specifies VGA card is your primary grafich adapter )
( Now ) AGP to PCI Slot
I know that Voodoo2 not work withhout primary grafic ( here is grafic on board )
